Members of the public are invited to an open rehearsal by Norfolk Wherry Brass as they put the finishing touches to their preparations for the National Finals this weekend. The open rehearsal will be at the Stalham High School, Brumstead Road, Stalham, Thursday 22 September from 7:30pm.

Norfolk Wherry qualified for Harrogate by winning their regional contest at Stevenage on their first attempt and have been excited about representing East Anglia at the Finals ever since.

But it certainly hasn’t all been plain sailing for the band this year. As a new band formed only 18 months ago, Norfolk Wherry started with nothing but excitement, goodwill and determination and has had to work harder than most bands to get where they are today.

And faced with a variety of individual problems over the last few weeks, some of the band’s regular players have not been able to make it to the Finals, whilst others have overcome some major difficulties to take part. Band Chairman, Mike Thorn told us, “We are really going to miss having some of our key players and personalities on stage with us this weekend. We’ve come this far thanks to a lot of hard work and a great team effort, so our performance on Saturday will be dedicated to the players that have sadly not been able to join us. We’re even more determined now to get a good result for them and hope they will be back playing in the band, fit and well very soon.”
