Band Trainer Required - Newport Borough Brass Band14th October 2008

Newport Borough Competition Brass Band rehearses twice weekly in its purpose built Band room at the YMCA, Newport.

There has always been a small training band. The committee are seeking to develop a larger and more active Training band consisting of beginners and novices of all ages. In order to do this we are seeking to recruit a Band trainer. It is anticipated that the Training band will perform independently from the Competition Band.

We are looking for a Band Trainer who can:
    - motivate, encourage and pass on desire to learn to play a brass instrument,
    - develop and improve a training band,
    - continue the tradition of progressing talent from training to main band,
    - maintain a pleasant, fun and hardworking atmosphere within rehearsals.
The person we are looking for must be enthusiastic and want to work predominately with young people. There will be a remuneration associated with the position (negotiable for the right applicant), but the post is considered more of a role for someone looking to expand his or her CV and gain valuable experience rather than a wholly professional appointment.

The Band will make resources available to a Band Trainer for what is deemed appropriate for the development of a training Band. The Band currently envisages that Training Band rehearsals will take place once a week, Monday’s 6pm to 7pm.

If you would like to apply for the post please forward a brief musical CV to:-
