The Cobham Band is delighted to announce the launch of its new website which marks six successful years under the musical directorship of David Ruel.

    David Ruel

David joined the Band in January 2004 after a long and successful association both as conductor and compére of The Friary Guildford Brass Band. David has moved the Band forward, improving its standard of playing and most importantly, the consistency in its level of performance at rehearsals and on the concert and contest stage. The Band has achieved a number of firsts under David’s baton - the Band’s trophy cabinet has never been so full in 122 years! First prizes aside the Band has had a number of other ‘firsts’, which include performing at prestigious venues in London (Westminster Abbey Gardens and Royal Parks - Kensington and Greenwich), at The Yehudi Menuhin School and alongside top brass banding names such as Ian Porthouse, Steven Sykes (Radio 2 Young Brass Soloist 2009) and Gareth Bimson, Co-Principal Trumpet of the BBC Symphony Orchestra. As a result of David’s untiring efforts and the dedicated and loyal support that the Band receives from its membership and audiences alike the Band has been able to raise significant amounts of money for charity.

The website provides a dynamic social platform whereby members, supporters and guests can interact and experience The Cobham Band. Features include: keyword search; links to social tools which include the Band’s YouTube Channel and Twitter account; tags – the categorisation of content; authoring – users can comment on website content; and syndication technology which will notify subscribed users of content changes. In addition, there is also a private members area, which will enable the Band to manage player availability more effectively, assisted by a private messaging system.

    Website Content

The user friendly website benefits from a detailed news section, player information, live recordings, and event listings; complete with an extensive portfolio of Band photographs.

Congratulations on your new website. It looks great. It certainly would be wonderful if you could find a way to post sound clips on your site.
