Rainford band are delighted to annouce Amy Hopkins as their new principal cornet player.

Amy is no stranger to Rainford having played repiano cornet and flugel for the band over the last 10 years. Amy has also played with St Helens Youth Band where she was taught by Lynda Nicholson and the Haydock Band.

MD Neil Samuel commented: "Amy is a young and very talented player and I look forward to taking the band forward with Amy playing principal cornet. She is a loyal and well respected member of the band and everyone at Rainford is confident that she is going to do a fantastic job as she leads the band into this new and exciting era."

Amy replaces Anna Spedding, who has been with the band for the last three years. Band chairman Paul Rigby said: "On behalf of the band I would like to thank Anna for her hard work and dedication during her time at the band and wish her all the best for the future".

The band are also pleased to announce the signing of Peter Banks on first horn and Nichola Gates on third cornet.
Peter joins having previously played with Pemberton Old and Wire Brass to name but a few. Peter also completes a trio of 'Banks' already at the band with his wife Dawn and son Adam already playing for the band!
Whilst, Nichola has recently joined the band after being coaxed out of retirement. She has previously played with Pemberton and Marsden, but most recently held the principal cornet chair at Golborne.

The band have an exciting end to the year planned both concert and contest wise and are all looking forward to a successful contest season with all of the new signings.
