New Principal at Cawston As The Cawston Band enters their 120th year they are delighted to announce the appointment of a new Principal Cornet, 22-year-old Hannah Cook. Hannah re-joined Cawston in 2005 following a year’s study in the USA. Shortly after her return Hannah deputised for the then Principal Bob Taylor at the Leicester contest. This was Hannah’s first contest with Cawston and the whole band was delighted when they achieved 1st Prize in the 2nd Section. It was a busy time for Hannah after her return to the UK as she also found time to organise a massed band concert to raise funds for the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund. The concert, which featured players from all over East Anglia, raised a considerable sum for the fund. The band would also like to take this opportunity to thank Bob Taylor for his hard work and commitment in the 3 years he was Principal Cornet. Bob will be staying as an important and valued member of the Cawston cornet section. Also joining the solo cornet ranks in time for the area contest at Stevenage, Cawston are pleased to welcome Luke Gardner who is studying at UEA Norwich.
