New Musical Director at Gresley Colliery Band

    Gresley Colliery Band are pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Grantham to the position of Musical Director he takes over from David Hutchinson.

    The Band wish to thank all those who applied , in particular those who gave generously of their time and talents at rehearsals.

    Tony Bayliss, who managed the recruitment said... "We have been thoroughly impressed with the quality ofthe applicants. In the end the band were spoilt for choice. With this amount of talent out there, it can only be good for the future of brass bands"

    Richard Grantham comes from Sheffield and is a former Principal Cornet of the NYBB and winner of the Alexander Owen Memorial Scholarship, Richard has performed with many of the countries top bands.

    As a conductor he guided Cottingham Band from the 4th Section -Championship Section winning 5 Area Titles and playing at the National Finals in 1992,1993,1996,1997,1998 and 2000 gaining two 4th prizes in those finals.

    Gresley Colliery Band are looking forward very much to working with Richard at both Concerts and Contest level.

    Richard also has his own music publishing business too: which was formed in 2005.

    Congratulations Richard and Gresley. You'll have a great time - he's a top bloke. I'm really please to hear that Richard is conducting again. It has been a waste of his talents of the last couple of years that he has not had a regular band
