After a strong performance at the recent Leicester Contest, Ireland Colliery Chesterfield Brass Band would like to announce two new signings ready for the new 2008 contesting season.

First of the new signings is Ian Milner who is joining on Eb Bass. He is a very experienced Bass player who will add to the existing team and his first contest will be Butlins, January 2008.

The next player the band would like to welcome is Colin Martin who is our new Principle Cornet. He is a player who has played with the likes of Riddings Brass Band, Matlock, Carlton Main Frickley and Skelmanthorpe. His first job with the band will be at St Augustines Church in Chesterfield on the 9th December.

The band would like to thank Ian Frost who has been covering that seat for the last few months and who has moved a seat down to accommodate Colin.

Over the last months, the band has undertaken many concert commitments, most recently, playing at Barlborough Club where they performed a concert to raise money for the Western Park Hospital and the Parkinson Charity.

Commenting on the new signings, the Musical Director, Ian Knapton, said “This is an exciting time for ICCB and with the two new signings, they will add experience to the band and it will move the band to it’s next chapter”

The bands next outing is St Augustines Church, Chesterfield on the 9th December, 7:30pm start, tickets on the door. All are welcome.
