The members of Corby Silver Band are pleased to welcome two new players to the cornet section.

Mark Coull has previously played with other local bands (albeit 15 years ago). He came to the band club to deliver some new music, liked what he saw - asked if he could borrow a cornet and has agreed to become a permanent fixture.

Also joining us is John Hutton, who although has never played in a brass band before, has previous experience playing trumpet in a jazz band. He also enjoyed a rehearsal and relaxed with a pint afterwards and a good chat with his new friends.

We wish them both a long and happy association with the band.

We would still like to attract permanent Euphonium and Bb bass players.

I'd just like to say I had a fantastic time at my first rehearsal and was surprised my lip lasted so well. Thanks for making me so welcome.

Although it is 15 years since I've played (trumpet in a reggae band) it is 27 years since I have played in a brass band. Can anyone beat that for coming back to banding?

I'll be practicing all week and back for more next Wednesday!
