City of Oxford Silver Band is delighted to announce that Lewis Edney has been appointed conductor with effect from May 2011.

Lewis is a professional bass trombonist working regularly with the likes of the BBC Symphony, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Opera North, London Philharmonic and Bournemouth Symphony orchestras. He also has a broad background in the West End and with big bands playing on Mary Poppins, Phantom, Oliver, Wicked, London Jazz Orchestra, Syd Lawrence Orchestra and many others. His love for brass bands started whilst at Chethams School of Music where he was fortunate enough to play with Fodens, Grimethorpe, and The BT Band to name a few.

City Of Oxford Silver Band is the oldest band in Oxfordshire, having been started in 1887, and is looking forward to working with Lewis, with a full programme of contests and concerts ahead. For more information see
