Having dredged through our library book for the umpteenth time i am finding it increasingly difficult to pick a programme that is new to us.

What is the best newish concert piece(arrangement or original) that you have played recently?

Any ideas would help me a lot.

recent pieces in the pad include:

Wunderbar - Goff Richards - a clever little arrangement
Penny Lane - Darryl Barry - a great chart of the beatles hit
Do reh Me - by our own Mr Thorne - great concert chart

and I would also recommend anything arranged by Mark Freeh - Serenata, Holiday for Trombones to name but two.

Is a superb solo - with a great Bass Trom like our band has it sounds amazing - really relaxed...

I can endorse Roger Thorne's "Do Re Me" - every band should have one, and what about "Presley in Mind"? Have you been to TP Music? There is much more on Thornes Music and TP Music.

Is Phil Harper's "the incredibles" available yet?? If so that is a must! And Phil Harper's "The Lord of the rings" that is great too!!

many of phil harpers arrangements of film/tv themes are worth a look if it's entertainment you want (many of them involve movement!) i always enjoyed the muppet show theme (i had the joy of playing it in it's pre-published state, as is the same with bugs life) if your band isn't afraid to make some noise, phil harper's circle of life is good fun (includes an african chanting section!)
