Having played with 1st section and championship bands in Yorkshire and Lancashire, coming to live in Paris was, to say the least, rather a culture shock: not a single band in sight for hundreds of miles! Admittedly there are some good bands in France: Aeolus, Brass Band Normandie and Brass Band du Nord - Pas de Calais, but in total there's only a handful of bands (well about 8 really) throughout the whole country. The first Nation Brass Band Championship of France was held in November 2004 and they got through all bands in all sections in less time than the second section at Harrogate the other weekend.

After several years in the wilderness, playing french horn parts in various concert bands, there is a new hope here in Paris. Earlier this year Brassage Brass-Band was born into the banding world and is dedicated to the promotion of brass instruments and British style bands in France.

You can visit our web site (in English and French) at the following address :

If you know any banding expats in Paris then don't hesitate to point them in our direction.

Great to see the british empire expanding the more important elements of the british ways of life to the inhospitipal parts of Europe - Rule Britannia, Long live The Queen (and especially her Patronage)
