Old Hall Brass are pleased to announce the arrival of 3 new players to join their ranks, Laura Dawson (Principal Cornet), Graham Kearsley (Solo Trombone) and Samantha Merry (3rd Cornet). Laura, a secondary music teacher who holds an honours degree in music from the University of Salford, joins Old Hall Brass as Principal Cornet from Middleton Band. Laura started her playing career at Tottington Public Band, before playing Flugel with Moston & Beswick, Ashton Under Lyne & United Co-op Crewe. Graham comes from a brass band family, his brother Adrian previously having played for Old Hall Brass. His playing career started at Hindley Band aged 11, also playing to Wigan Youth Brass Band and Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra through his teens. After a brief spell at Bedford Band in Leigh, Graham joined Pemberton Old Band, where he stayed for many years, until leaving to pursue a career in the prison service. On his return to Wigan, he joined Laporte Industries Band for a year, before taking time out. He is looking forward to getting back into the banding scene with Old Hall Brass, and we are delighted to welcome him! Finally, Samantha joins us from the Old Hall Brass Community Band, where she held the Principal Cornet seat. After attending both Community band and main band rehearsals for the last few months, Sam has impressed Trevor Halliwell, Old Hall‘s MD so much that he has invited Sam to join Old Hall Brass on 3rd Cornet. A well deserved step up for Sam, and a good advert for the Old Hall Community Band. Old Hall Brass welcomes all three, and look forward to a successful 2007 / 2008.
