    I thought people might be interested in this...

    The recent Wessex contest tried out a new (for UK brass bands) adjudication system. At the end of the contest each band received a CD of their performance, as well as one with Duncan Beckley's remarks spoken over the top. Remarks were also transcribed in writing.

    Here's an interview with Duncan about the new approach;

    Here is Woodfalls' performance of Distant Memories plus the adjudicators remarks;

    We've had adjudication like this from the Borders Entertainment contest for the past couple of years.

    Actually it's three years that this form of adjudicating has been used at the Borders Contest. I was the "speaking" adjudicator last year (there's also one writing adjudicator for those who don't know) and was on the "receiving" end as a competing MD at this year's contest. I think it's a great idea.
