NEMBBA Entertainment Contest

    On the 8th of October the Nembba Entertainment Contest in association with Bolsover District Council is taking place at the Kissingate Leisure Centre in Shirebrook. The Contest has attracted 10 bands and will start at 11.00am it should be a good day.

    Just to update the information regarding this contest same start time but Foss Dyke and Long Eaton have withdrawn. This leaves the following bands in the contest Bakewell, Bestwood, Rockingham, Shirebrook, Strata, Thoresby Youth, Whitwell, and Wigston.

    The laugh will be at my barely open eyes... 9.30am rehearsal on a sunday morning :eek: Not sure what 9.30 looks like on a sunday morning.

    Raspberry will be their playing for Bestwood and Brian will be conducting at least another couple of TMP members.

    Yup I'll be there with Wigston. Looking forward to it now.

    Oh and if anyone from band is reading this (especailly Garry) I'm definately not drinking lager at the moment. Honest.

    As I said Di, a special perfomance enhancing drink called "not lager" ;)

    Anyway - if anyone here sees me then come and say hello. I'm not sure what time I'll be at the venue - we have a late draw so will be rehearsing, but anyway...come say hello :D

    Results

    highest placed 4th section band not in prizes: Thorsby colliery youth band.

    highest placed 3rd section band not in prizes: Whitwell Welfare band.

    highest placed 2nd section band not in prizes: Rockingham Band.

    Best solist: Kirk Turner (cornet) Wigston Band

    1st place: Strata Brass 189 points

    2nd place: Wigston band 188 points

    3rd place: Shirebrooke 187 points.

    by all accounts an interesting days contesting. With a power cut during wigston bands solo number. the band played on.
    congratulations to all bands taking part at todays contest.

    Well done to my Little Bro who won the best soloist prize especially when the lights went out 3 bars from the end of the solo!!!!!!!!!
    He has never won anything like this before and he was so happy :D. The Turner luck is finally up!
    Well done to Wigston and Bestwood who carried on playing in the dark!
    Just after the final results were announced the lights came back on!!

    Congrats to Wigston on coming 2nd you played an absolute blinder

    Sorry I missed your performance (Lone Eaton withdrew) but a sound like yours deserves prizes!:clap: :clap:
    Bet it upset Battersby....Presumably he's still at Strata?
