  1. Ouston, Pelton & District
    Community Brass Band

Is seeking an enthusiastic Brass Tutor to join our existing successful and vibrant teaching team. Lessons are held in Primary and Secondary Modern Schools in the Pelton, Chester-le-Street area.

The successful applicant will have a good track record in teaching brass to youngsters, and ideally would suit a retired person or someone who has recently left university.

Flexible hours are by arrangement and a competitive hourly rate is offered together with an expenses package.

The initial programme commenced in July 2007 and we currently have over 90 eager youngsters who regularly rehearse in seven school bands. Lessons are held during out of school hours, and on a Saturday morning in a local community centre.

They play on new brass instruments together with a full set of percussion, have smart modern uniforms, music stands and play a wide range of music. We receive tremendous support from parents, teachers and the local community in general.

Already these children have made a notable impact on the local banding scene and are thirsting with ambition. Several individual prizes were recently awarded in the Durham County Brass Band Association contest held in Blackhall Colliery on 3rd October 2010.

All applicants will require CRB clearance and should in the first instance contact Norman Walker as follows: -
