The curiosity bug has a hold on me again (better than the Spennymoor Curry though ;) ) and this time it's about the Monette Cornet. Their trumpets are legendary, expensive and used by top professionals the World over but I have only heard of Wynton Marsalis playing their cornet. Does anyone in the banding world possess or even tried one? What are they like and is it the stuff dreams are made of?

I have not tried one, but they make two.

One shaped like a conventional cornet and one shaped more like a large soprano cornet (actually some Bb cornets used to be made that shape so its nothing new).

You would need to go over and try them.
I believe it takes about a year for you to get one from ordering.
I did consider it at one point but I decided to go for a wedgwood which is also a custom made instrument.
