Hi: I am in the process of lapping valves on Salvation army tenor horns, serial numbers in the 10,000 range. At first thought they would be nickel plated, but now suspect the are made of monel metal. Interesting because monel was patented in 1905 and these instruments were made soon after this time. Can anyone confirm if, indeed, these valves would be monel?
    Cheers James
