According to our secretary the pre-draw for the 1st/2nd half of the 1st section has been made and that only 16 bands have been entered.

According to the tables there are 19 1st section bands, anyone know who is NOT going?

p.s. mods, are we allowed to reveal which half of the draw we are in?

I assume Ransomes are now first section and to my knowledge they aren't returning to contesting yet. The others I have no idea about

    Why 'No' ?

If the band have been notified which part of the draw they are in it is public knowledge anyway

If they haven't been notified then it shouldn't be published on here

The bands may have been advised, but as far as we know, the "public" haven't.

    Rule 2(g) refers:
As the area is a closed contest, any pre-draw or part there of should not be posted.

so that leaves one more band not taking part in all the fun with Pentacle :)

    any ideas?

the only band I can say is definitely going is us (Brackley)

I believe Raunds may be the final band not going - though this may just be a rumour I have heard on the brass band grapevine.

a real shame if Raunds are not able to get a band together, pleyed withthemlast year and had a good time.

Is it really that bad? Lynda? Christian?

Does any one know why Wellington Telford are not on the list for the 2nd section. I thought they had been promoted?

Porthywaen are listed in both the 2nd and 3rd section.

There are also 13 bands in the championship section, thought they were only allowed 12?

I'm happy to be corrected but I think that might be because of equal points in the past. Anyway, that particular "rule" hasn't bothered the Yorkshire region too much in the past ;)

As for Ransomes - they are now non-competing.

@ musical rent boy - yes it is a bleedin' piece, and one which I'm really struggling to find any merit in (OK the second movement is quite nice). For me at least its gonna be one of those "play it as best you can and move on to more enjoyable stuff" pieces. :)
