meditation from thais - horn solo?

Discussion in 'The Rehearsal Room' started by stevecritchlow, Nov 16, 2009.

  1. I'm sure I remember playing this gorgeous piece with a band years back as a horn solo, but can't find any trace of it on the web with publishers. Does anyone know of it, or perhaps bands have used a soprano version of it on the horn?
Recommendations of a good arrangement would be gratefully received.

There is one soprano solo Darrol Barry did and Alan Wycherly plays it on Fodens Brass in Concert cd with Sergei Nakariakov

But you could play it on horn cos demelza is a sop solo but doest stop horn players nicking it! :D

Then again I cant talk as ive recently played he aint heavy hes my brother, thats a great solo but a killer at the end!

There are a couple of Eb versions at Just Music. It is also available as a Euphonium solo arranged by Goff Richards.

    Hope this helps

If my memory serves me correctly, the solo part was on the back of "Feelings" Horn Solo, but I can't remember if the band parts were, or if it was a dodgy set of parts.
