just wondering which tMP'ers we'll see around the bar??

If anyone finds themsleves at a loose end on Sunday this a great contest to go to, a full day of lower and higher section bands competing in a nice hall, with a handily placed bar just next door (you can still hear the bands). Anyone that fanices a day out, there's some space on the Emley coach (leaving Emley 9am returning 6pmish) you'd be welcome to join the fan club for the day (at the bargin cost of £5) and enjoy a lovely contest, all run in the true spirit of banding

    See you all there!

I'll probably be hanging round a bar (or two!! :D) at some point during the evening (after we've played!! :p). I'll look out for the mighty Emley!! :)

    See you there?

I'll be there supporting yorkshirepud and Maltby. I'll look out for any friendly faces to blag a drink off (unfortunately pay day is not until next week and I'll probably be driving anyway) :(

A nice hall? Only when you win, I suspect!

Hi Matt - no, we decided to give it a miss this time as we've played quite a few entertainment contests in recent years and wanted a change. We'll be up in Durham instead that day, playing James Cook Circumnavigator.

(And Malton can be quite a drag late on Sunday evening when the contest is already running two hours behind schedule and your conductor won't let you go for a beer...)

    Best of luck!

I know kirbymoorside town band are meant to be there. (Rich and Jesus from our band mentioned that.) Think Wetherby Silver are playing too. And us of course, but we've been mentioned above.

    Any more for any more?

Nah, I think it's a good hall in so much as it never looks empty, it's amll enough to have a decent audience fill it and big enough to squeeze everyone in come results time. Stage is a bit rickerty but I always look forward to going!

I've heard (again no hard facts here) Yorks railway (sec A) Marske (Sec B) South Milford (Sec B) Skelemanthope (Sec A) Are Old Silkstone gonna defend their title?? (Sec A)
    Shepherds (Sec A)

Also heard the last Two bands due on in Sec A have both withdrawn, so that might maake up for the usual timings.

I'll be there in spirit! Bit tough on who to root for because Wetherby Silver and United Coop Yorkshire will both be there in the upper section and theyre both very close to my heart! I wish you both lots of luck

    Ginge xx

...I'd be a bit surprised if Skelmanthorpe showed up as I'm judging in Glasgow - maybe they're doing a conductor-less programme a la Grimethorpe 1985 etc? (I'll check)

P.S Stocksbridge won last year, Lockwood 2nd - finished at 11.00pm

I remember someone at Stape saying earlier this year that they're conductor was away for Malton, mayeb be there under a differebt baton?

Must be Skel B then, the grape vine wins again! Have a good time in Scotland!

Stape have quite a player shortage - wouldn't put it against them to withdraw this year to be honest. They're not doing too well by all accounts.
