I play for Battle Town Band, based in the town of Battle, which is where the Battle of Hastings took place in 1066.
Apparently George Allan wrote a march called Battle Abbey (the abbey was built on the battlefield). It would probably make sense for our band to play it. Does anyone know who publishes it?

Black Dyke recorded it on "Great British Marches" under James Watson: not in my collection, but maybe someone has it and can check the documentation. Faling that, it may be worth contacting Dyke direct.

It was also on the George Allen cd, where it was played by Ferryhill Town Band.

Wingates recorded it as well on the Milestones CD (2001).

Brilliant - I've ordered the Black Dyke CD now so at least we can listen to what it sounds like. :)

It sounds very good indeed. Never seen the music though.
