    Evening good folks,

    I'm looking for a piece, I'd like it to contain some if not all of;
    varied time signatures, plenty of percussion, original brass composition, new or old. . .

    Any ideas scholars of brass?

    Nice idea. It's to fit in a program tho, needs to be shorter than 5 mins.

    Second Gaelforce, great piece, loads for everyone to do. Finale from Year of the Dragon? Absolutely loads of percussion and entertaining to boot!

    What about one of the oldies if you are looking for an opener, Gregson's Prelude for an Occasion.

    Might be dated for you young uns.

    How about the finale from Glorifico Aeternum? Or Psalm of Praise?

    Mathias: Vivat Regina - 6 short movements, so you can pick and choose.

    Sparke: Madrigalum, although technically you need 4 timps and 4 sheds, it can be done with 3+2 if they're well organised

    Vinter: The Fete Basque from Vizcaya, or Challenging Brass

    Another vote for the Gregson Prelude, or how about the last movement of Occasion

    Or, if you're desperate, Badon Hill from The Once and Future King :biggrin:

    ... why not consider some of the Elgar Howarth pieces such as Red Sky At night, Mosaic, Chinese Takeaway, Hogarth's Hoedown, Hunt The Hare, Cops & Robbers etc. :confused:

    We did Victory from Cry of the Celts the other day, and that would go well with the other suggestions :)

    Now here is one for you Gary : "The Royal Hunt Of The Sun" from 'Evocations' by Martin Ellerby, brilliant percussion part, and you can get the band to put the vocal bits into it as well, running time approx. 4'40" (all depends on how fast you want to take it). Publishers : "Studio Music".

    Barn Dance & Cowboy Hymn by Sparke. Stunning piece and very rarely played. Fulfils all your criteria.
