    Hi 2MD

I have temporarily turned on the vBulletin tMP reputation system. It allows you to rate the quality of peoples posts and add to their reputation. Sometimes this works on forums and sometimes it doesn't. I will trial it over the Christmas period to see what the effect is and if it seems to work I will formalise and keep.

I have set it all such that everyone is equal... me too....:) let's see where this goes eh.

How's that..:) By the way... this is just one of several fantastic new features planned for the next few weeks....:)

so how is it graded John? what does a green star mean when compared to...say...the 2 yellow stars that eg. Linda.Taylor has??

This means that someone has already clicked on the star and added to her reputation.... by doing this, you get a predetermined number of reputation points added and hence the rating increases.

If you like someones post, click on the star (or similar depending upon which tMP template style you are using) or the tick in their post bit info (by the avatar somewhere) and you can then add a comment on their post and add to the reputation.

To be totally honest, I haven't graded the system or tailored it to tMP parlence as of yet - I will do this if I determine from the temporary use of it during the Christmas period that it will work and add value/interest to tMP.

I put my cursor over the green star underneath my avatar and it too said that WorldofBrass.com is an unknown quantity at this point!

I had to laugh at the irony!

    Hehe Mr Unknown.... errrrm... Carl...:)

As I mentioned earlier up in this thread... the vB reputation system is currently set up with the default settings and phrases etc. and neede to be tailored to suit the parlence and ambience of tMP - in a similar manner to the 'tMP friend in Training', 'tMP Master friend' rankings etc....

All of the phrases are customisable... any suggestions?

I have only just turned this feature on and already there seems to be a great amount of interest in it... :tup Let's see how it progresses.

Hehe... all I did was to click on the star/tick in the users postbit area and add to your reputation... ;) if you like someone's post, you can also do this.

Is this reputation thing also linked to the number of referrals that you have? ;)

Yup Jan... totally correct but.. the number of grades is also fully customisable. I can even allow access to otherwise restricted areas of tMP based on a users reputation. So, in theory, if a user makes excellent posts, over an extended period, we can amend the user title graphic and allow access to additional tMP areas.

That's the theory anyway...:-? who knows how it will turn out.

Linda: People can also take away from your reputation should they so wish.:-?

I don't think so Jan. Wouldn't be 100% sure if it could be made to work that way though.:-?
