    Leyland Band - Tuned Percussion

Leyland band (North West Area Champions 2004, 2005 National Champions 2005) require a percussionist. Anyone interested can PM me or send an email to tubachrisdoran@hotmail.com. The band are about to move to new rehearsal facilities in Leyland (easy access from M6 and M61) and you would be joining a team that already includes both tuned and kit specialists. Engagements include National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall and the pre-results concert.

Just to add to Chris's original post, this vacancy would offer scope to do a share of the kit and/or tuned work. This opportunity would equally suit an experienced campaigner or an up-and-coming new talent looking to gain experience of banding at the highest level.

Any enquiries can be directed either to Chris as above or feel free to PM me.

    Leyland Band -Eb bass

Leyland band require an Eb bass player to join with immediate effect. You would be joining a team that has played together in the band for over 5 years and the band will be undertaking many exciting projects, with dates such as the national finals at the RAH and the RNCM brass festival to look forward to. The band rehearse 5 mins from junction 28 of the M6. Anyone interested in coming for a blow, send me a PM or email. :) Any students from Manchester for next year would be welcome to try out too.

To clarify on Chris' post, I took the decision to take a break from playing earlier this week, in order to give myself more time to devote to my conducting work as well as composing/arranging. In September I start a PGCE course, and I felt I would have found the demands of rehearsing (and dividing my attentions, clearly) with two bands full-time, on top of my coursework, too great. These are the only reasons that I have decided to step down, and this is in no way related to today's competition, as I thought we played very well on stage.
Leyland are a fantastic band, and a wonderful group of people. I never would have thought that so much fun could have been had competiting at the highest level, and I have enjoyed every experience over the last 2-and-a-bit years at Leyland. I never imagined when I started as a player 10 years ago, that I would have the opportunity to compete at the European Championships, go abroad on a 'serious' tour or have music I had written recorded by one of the world's best bands. I also never thought I'd even play at the National Finals in the Albert Hall, never mind win the thing, so for that and all the other great times I am really grateful to all at Leyland Band. Russell in particular has been a great inspiration, and I hope to be visiting the bandroom in the not too distant future with some new music.
Whoever gets the opportunity to fill this seat is a very lucky person indeed (even if they will have to put up with frequent ribbings from the BBbs - comes with the territory!)
Thanks guys, it's been a blast, and I'll miss it! See you all soon.

    Percussionist required

Leyland Band currently (Nov '07) require a percussionist. The band already has two very able full time percussionists, however another full-time player would be ideal with the demand for percussion in both concert and contest pieces. The current section are quite happy to swap parts around as and when, to maintain interest etc. The band rehearse 5 mins from junction 28 of the M6 in Leyland. Up coming engagements for next year include RNCM Festival of Brass and a trip to Norway for the Grenland Brass Festival. Anyone interested, please send me a PM or email.

    Cheers
