Leyland Band, the 2005 Champion Brass Band of Great Britain, announce their programme for the Gala Concert at the new English Nationals contest at the Lowry, Salford on the 1st July. The following details are courtesy of BFBB/4barsrest.com:

After a hard day's contesting, MD Russell Gray is clearly mindful of the need to give the audience some light fayre. The concert, which will be hosted by TV personality Melanie Sykes, and which will end with the presentation ceremony, has a distinctly 'cool' air about it - perfect for a summer's evening!
Norwegian composers and arrangers are to the fore with contributions from Frode Rydland & Svein Henrik Giske (Tour de Band), Jan Magna Forde (Eyala) and Frode Rydland (Breaking up is hard to do). Two sectional features will be presented in the evergreen Hora Staccatto, arranged by Goff Richards, featuring the cornets, supplemented by a percussion feature.
Australian Euphonium star Brenden Wheeler will also feature in Frode Ryland’s arrangement of Sigvard Dagsland’s Michaelangelo. Pat Metheney's delightful Letter from home is given an airing, as is Sandy Smith’s arrangement of Leroy Anderson's refreshing Fiddle Faddle. Also featured is a UK premiere performance of Darrol Barry’s Roccatta.
Leyland will finish their light and entertaining concert with Mikail Alperin’s Unisons.
Tickets for the inaugural English National Championships provide an 'all day' seat so there is no additional charge for the 'lighter side' which follows the contest. With the audience in the professional hands of Melanie Sykes, herself a former brass player, it's certain to be an evening to remember.

The English National Brass Band Championship takes place at The Lowry, Salford, on Saturday 1st July.

Tickets are on sale now from The Lowry box office at:
