    While the recounting of the contretemps between Black Dyke and Carnegie Hall management related in Peter Bassano's letter is mostly correct, it should be noted that, while Phil Smith was indeed one of the signatories of the protest letter to Carnegie Hall management on behalf of Black Dyke, it was, in fact, Doug Yeo, bass trombonist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, who organized the protest letter and recruited its nearly 100 signatories (see <i>In Pursuit of a Dream: Proclamation</i> by Roger Challoner Green.)
