City of Cambridge will be going. Competing in the Championship section this time and looking forward to it. Hope that the contest goes as smoothly as it did last year.

Bollington Band will be there trying to retain the 1st section title. Was a great contest last year - the result helped .... but still it was a very well organised day.

Great result for Barton, we had what can be said as "not a very good day". But like Bollington who played Resurgam. We will rise again.

Are the scores for Yorkshire Co-op and Jackfield correct as if they are the scores, then surely Yorkshire Coop came 6th and Jackfield 7th?
I don't want to take anything away from Jackfield (My band!) but if Co-op beat them it should be updated!
Please feel free to correct me if I've made a glaring mistake, it has been known of a few occasions ;-) (often on the contest stage!!)

Not a great result on the face of it - though I have no problem with the placing given the performance - but I have to say we did well to get there at all. The bandroom last week was like an episode of Casualty with not one but two of our players throwing themselves off ladders, our conductor (now forever known as Garry 'The Stig' Sleath) stuffing his car into a ditch on Monday night with resultant whiplash and bruising casuing him to miss one rehearsal and not be that mobile for the others, and our Eb bass getting a really nasty throat infection on Friday meaning he couldn't play for us or Ratby on the day. Driving to the rehearsal on Saturday night I wasn't sure if we were going or not and we didn't know who 50% of the bass section were going to be until after that rehearsal had finished. On that note I must thank Andy Nuttin from Oddfellows who stepped in at the 11th hour to cover BBb bass and did a sterling job.

Putting all that aside, as ever the LBBA put on a great contest and it was a good day on the whole. Well done to Barton who were far and away the best 1st section band there. Also congrats to Unity (who I missed due to listening to Ratby) and Ratby who were a street in front of everyone else IMO. I had to shoot off before the results were announced but it was no surprise to read on here later that they'd won.

Ian you forgot to mention your 2nd Euph player forgetting to bring his Euph and having to rush home to fetch it. Arriving very flustered in registration, just as the band before you played their last note!! Thanks for the congratulation tho!! but get a grip Mr Hayto! How long have we been known as Oddfellows Brass now lol :p xx

I forgot about that - along with Garry losing a contact lens before we played too. Basically if it could go wrong beforehand it did. If it couldn't, it did anyway...

You will always be known in my heart as Unity....;)

EDIT: I got it right the first time I mentioned you though...
