The Leicestershire Brass Band Association are delighted to announce a record number of entries for this year’s LBBA Open Brass Band competition. Seventy two entries across six sections await judges David Read MBE, John Roberts, Brett Baker and David Thornton who will have the difficult and respectable task of putting the large entry of bands in order.

The competition will be held at the adjacent Burleigh Community College and Charnwood College (formerly Garendon High School) on Sunday 25[SUP]th[/SUP] November 2012.

The competition kicks off at 9am in the Charnwood Theatre with the Unregistered Section, and 10am in Charnwood Hall for the 1[SUP]st[/SUP] Section. Tickets for supporters are available on the door. In response to participant band requests, a pre-draw has taken place for all sections and entrants will be notified by the association secretary of their draw.

Details of rehearsal facilities for bands, directions and other contest information is available on the LBBA website at www.lbba.org.uk

I would just like to offer my congratulations to the LBBA, for the outstanding number of bands entered and the recognisable depth of quality to those entries.
It is wonderful to see a Midlands Association attracting bands from across the country, to a local event.
    Well done to you all.

This is a well-run contest , Lesley and her team do a great job ,the venue is pretty reasonable and I'm looking forward to a few light ales in the Working Mens club already !! Will be there with Clacton Co-Op. Only complaint is why is it always so bloomin' cold there ?? !! :)

Does anyone know the draw yet for the 4th section

We've had our draw emailed through - it ought to be with your contest secretary, I would have thought?

Posting it is probably a bad idea, given that it's a closed adjudication contest.

Any thoughts from Paddy Flower as to how we might fare?

Actually, although I have no documentary evidence, and you probably shouldn't take my word for it, I'd heard that it was going to be open adjudication ...

If it is open adjudication, I wonder how we'll do. I've never done particularly well with this specific adjudicator. However, in the past, he may not have realised exactly how handsome I am. That may help this time.

Well point 8 of the contest rules confirm it is under closed adjudication ....then again, a point above that says only 3 borrows are allowed but I think they've allowed 4 this year

  20. Bass Trumpet

We have not had any word about open adjudication, but the 4 borrows amendment was clearly stated in the secretary's confirmation letter. They did experiment with open adjudication a few years back, but it didn't prove popular with the bands (apart from the winners!).

  21. Any news on open or closed adjudication? also paddy any chance of a update on ya odds?
