If you have an interest in supporting brass banding within London and Southern Counties area, please come along to what promises to be a fantastic pre-nationals concert involving Frank Renton this coming Sunday.

A joint concert featuring three L&SC brass bands who have qualified in their sections for the National Championship Finals later this month is to be held at Connaught Leisure, Aldershot, Tongham Road, GU12 4AS on Sunday 12th September at 1.00-4.00 p.m.

London & Southern Counties First Section winners Friary Guildford Band will be joined by Fulham Brass (winners, 3rd Section) and LGB Brass (runners up, 4th Section), each playing a short programme to include their respective Finals test piece. Presenter of BBC Radio 2’s ‘Listen to the Band’ programme, Frank Renton, will be in attendance to adjudicate each performance, and interval entertainment will be provided by youth band players. Light refreshments will also be available.

“It’s a great way to hear some of the best bands from the region who should be at the top of their game in readiness for the National Finals at Harrogate later in September,” explained Friary Guildford’s PR officer, Tim Straker. “We are offering free admission for those aged 18 and under: after all, young players are the lifeblood which keeps the tradition of brass band music alive today,” he added.

Tickets will be available at the door and will be priced at £5 for adults and £3 for senior citizens.
