Sandhurst Silver Band are hosting 4 other bands from the Championship, 2nd, 3rd and 4th sections to showcase and critic the chosen test pieces for an ideal dry-run for the bands involved. Under contest conditions at St Paul’s Church in Camberley, each band will play their appropriate test piece in front of an adjudicator who will then give feedback on their performance. The bands taking part with their test piece are: Championship – Alder Valley, Roger Burke – St Magnus (Kenneth Downie) 1st – Sandhurst Silver, Ian McElligott – Cry of the Mountain (Howard Lorriman) 2nd – St. Sebastians Wokingham, Lee Woodward – Chaucer’s Tunes (Michael Ball) 3rd – Cold Ash Brass, Jemma Evans – Postcards from Home (Philip Wilby) 4th – Bletchington Silver, Sheldon Barwick – Three Spanish Impressions (Alan Fernie) Adjudicating on the day will be Director of Music for the Royal Air Force; Professor Rob Wiffin, who is an established adjudicator, composer and player.
