Becontree welcome lots of new signings including Kuyt from Holland - no, not the striker at Liverpool!!! (although we do have another player who's surname is 'Garcia'!)

Becontree Brass Band are pleased to announce the signing of three new players.

Ewan Parker has now joined officially on Soprano Cornet, having resigned from Redbridge Brass. Ewan is an experienced graduate musician, who also runs the London Jazz Collective. He will honour his commitments with Redbridge until the end of the year.

    Kuyt comes from Holland

B3 also welcome Neville Kuyt onto the cornet section. Hailing from Holland, Neville is a distinguished cornet player- having played with Advendo Brass in Holland, and Daw Mill Collery Band in England.

Rebecca Desmond has filled the vacancy on 1st Horn. Rebecca hails from Dearham band in Cumbria, and has moved down to London in order to study Stage Management.

    Welcome back

In addition, we also welcome back former players Roger Webber (cornet) and Richard Mann (BBb Bass).

However, its "so long, farewell" to two principal players. Alan Duguid (cornet) and Paul Hicks (Euphonium) are both leaving the band after their concert on the 14th October. Alan has extended his conducting committments, and is no longer able to get to rehearsals. Pauls career means he is no longer able to give 100% to the band.

    Busy period ahead

B3 are also currently auditioning two back row cornet players, euphonium, and a principal cornet and are looking forward to announcing these in the near future.

The band has a very busy period approaching, including two charity concerts, Channel 4 primetime documentary about music in London, and its first attempt at the Butlins Mineworkers Competion.

Its funny- cos we're still not sure which position is best for Kuyt- hes been playing behind the front 4, but a recent run of form might see him being pushed up front!
Garcia is showing touches of class, currently employed out on the wing- strengthens things up on the left side of defence.
We've currently got a Duguid as well, who, for the misinformed- is also the name of the Colchester Utd captain.
Parker is on sop, a new addition to the squad. While N Stiles plays bass trom for us!

    All true!
