Kirkby Lonsdale Contest - 19th June

    Is anybody going to this contest?

    Greenalls Band are and we have been told there are 10 bands entered.

    Looking forward to it :)

    Elmfield Brass are there too, as are Sale Brass I believe. I could hazard a guess at a few more but I suspect that most will be 3rd section bands with ourselves and Sale in the 4th!

    Dont know the full results as i seem to have lost my programme...but from memory...

    Overall Winners - Greenalls

    3rd Section...

    1st - Greenalls
    2nd - Hazel Grove
    3rd -

    Best March - Greenalls
    Best Hymn - Greenalls
    Best Soloist - Euph - Hazel Grove
    Best Instrumentalist - Euph - Hazel Grove
    Most entertaining - ???

    4th Section...

    1st - Pilling
    2nd - Sale
    3rd - ???

    Best March - Pilling
    Best Hymn - ???
    Best Overall Deportment: Brindle

    Got to say such a great contest. Lovely village and setting...nothing taken too seriously...great just about held all day, and very well ran and organised :)

    Sale won best March in 4th Section, so think Pilling must be best Hymn.
    Always a great day out, good that there were more bands there this year.

    Sorry about my bad memory aswell but congrats on your prizes :clap:

    I thought the massed bands thing at the end was also a nice touch and didnt sound too bad ;-)

    Lofthouse 2000 were third in the third section, and Tarleton third in the 4th section... just been trawling the competing band's websites to find that info!.

    Yes massed bands always good.. as is going to the Red Dragon!

    Suprised you had room on your coach home for your hawl of silver ware!

    Pilling Band won the Entertainment Prize, 4th Section Hymn & 4th Section overall.

    Is this still a March, Hymn and Test Piece contest?

    Hahaha...yes it was a struggle ;-) and ty lol

    The Orange Tree (i think) was our main watering hole

    No it is a 25 minute entertainments programme which must include a hymn, march and soloist. There is also a march from one end of the village to the contest arena.

    I will see if i can update my results post aswell...
