Anyone on here going to the Kirkby Lonsdale contest on Sunday?

We are, first time in a while we've made the trip across the A66.

*Sorry it's 15th June - can a mod edit it?*

See if I can get this right:

3rd section was won by Morecombe, with Flixton 2nd

    Ripon won best deportment

4th section - Kirkby Londsale won, Sale were 2nd.

There were 3rd place prizes (can't remember them) and Flixton's euph won best soloist.

    Anyone fill in the gaps?

Derek Broadbent's ending speech was class!

Congrats to all who did well and took part, this contest is one of the best IMHO.

    4th section 3rd place

At Kirkby Lonsdale 3rd place in the 4th section was won by Lofthouse

Elmfield deserved a prize for the soggiest band,
marching down in a sudden downpour.

I thought the contest was very well organised and a great opportunity to meet up with banding friends.

All in all a great day out (and I'm not just saying that because we won a prize!)

Pilling Jubilee Silver won 3rd prize in the 3rd section.

Glossopdale Community College won the prize for highest placed Youth Band.

Flixton won the prize for best march.

Morecambe won the prize for best hymn tune.

Morecambe also won the prize for the band with the highest points in the contest, and their conductor (A. Warriner) won the trophy for the winning conductor.

Congratulations to Morecambe, Pilling Jubilee Silver, Kirkby Lonsdale, Sale, Lofthouse 2000, Glossopdale Community College, and Ripon City.

Congratulations as well to Flixton's own Mike Rowley, who won the best instrumentalist prize

It was a good day, pity about the weather, but that couldn't be helped.

Does anyone have a rundown of all the bands that entered and whether they were in the 3rd or 4th section, as we couldn't remember who was in each section (apart from those that one prizes obviously)!
