Saturday the 15th of November saw the first meeting of the Kippax Band youth training group. The group is aimed at youngsters wishing to learn or develop brass playing skills. The band view this as an important avenue in securing the long term future of the band as well as providing another excellent service for the local community.

The group has been developed by a sub committee of the senior band committee and will be facilitated by qualified and experienced members of the senior band. The group has the full support of the band’s chairman Colin Moss and also the band’s MD David Horn.

Colin states 'We hope that this initiative will help us find the future stars of the Kippax Band, and help secure the long term future of one of the oldest bands in the country.'

David quote, " We place great importance in the value of youth development in the Kippax band and we already have two very promising young cornet players in the band. We hope this new venture will unearth new talent on all manner of different instruments for the future"

14 youngsters attended the first session and the trainers were extremely pleased with the level of skill displayed by the children and also their level of enthusiasm and motivation.
