Here I was with my dustbin lids (kids) tonight putting up the Christmas decorations in sweltering heat. Baubles with fake snow, snowmen, Winter scene Christmas cards but it's summer here. It's just not right. I should be getting dressed to go to bed, freezing cold, playing carols in the snow, digging the car out whilst Simon is snug inside drinking tea and complaining about it all.

    Barbecued turkey anyone?

Do you reckon you'd prefer Crimbo in a hot place or in good old blighty. Christmas in Norway was spectacular too. I just don't get all the decorations here have snow on them. Shouldn't it be sand?

    Anway, Merry Christmas.

    Must be awful for you!

Guess its one of those times the senses plays a trick on you. Christmas in the heat is against everything we have been brought up to understand!

One advantage I guess your children (and you and Simon) will have is they can go outside and play with all their new presents, whilst you sleep of the excess of Christmas dinner.

    Have a great time!

You could always offer to dep for a Scottish band for a few weeks if you miss the snow....

Turn the Air conditioning right down and set the tree up in front of the open Freezer with it set to "Ice Age" setting. Bingo!

This is our fourth Christmas here in the Middle East and believe it or not you do get used to it, our first Christmas we were invited to friends for an outdoor Christmas Dinner and surprise, surprise it started spitting and we made a mad dash indoors :p We keep thinking about coming back to the UK for Christmas but its a bit too cold for our liking ;)

    Merry Christmas everyone!!

that would be reeeeeally strange... heat and christmas and bbq's... it just doesnt go... i know i often complain about how cold it is this time of year, but now i come to think about it, i wouldnt want it any other way! christmas wouldnt be christmas if it wasnt absolutely freezing cold, with some vague hope of snow, and always slipping on ice somewhere!

however, having said that... christmas does only have one meaning, and that is the birth of jesus.. christmas has become too commercialised, and lost its real meaning. i hope wherever you might be in the world for christmas you keep the real meaning in your mind as you celebrate, and open presents etc.
