A TOP family park with the nationwide Haven Holidays is helping East Yorkshire Motor Services Band to get to the Royal Albert Hall.

The Hull-based band will line-up with the best of Britain in London on October 8 for the finals of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.

And Haven’s Blue Dolphin Holiday Park, just along the Yorkshire coast at Filey, is helping with the considerable expense of taking part in the iconic competition by sponsoring and printing the programmes for EYMS-organised concerts for 2016.

Chairman Tony Newiss said: “Not only is Haven Holidays helping the band to get to London with its generous sponsorship, it is also raising the profile of the band with the printing of full-colour eight-page programmes.

“It is an expensive operation running a band in the top 20 in the country, never mind meeting the big bill for qualifying for the National Finals, and we are indebted to Haven Holidays for its interest in the banding movement.

Blue Dolphin, based at Gristhorpe Bay, near Filey and Scarborough, on the North Yorkshire coast, offers self-catering and touring and camping facilities. As well as the possibility to buy your own holiday home and enjoy picturesque cliff top walks and panoramic sea views whenever you choose.

There is a heated outdoor pool, indoor pool with multi-lane waterslide, indoor activities in the SportsDrome, shows with the stars, newly-refurbished big family fun and large indoor soft play area, kids club, crazy golf, kart hire, wall climbing, roller blading, fishing…and the beaches are a short stroll away.

The telephone number for the park, open until October 31, is 0333 202 1422. The Sat Nav postcode is YO14 9PU.

EYMS Band qualified for the Kensington showpiece in the first contest under direction of new musical director Stig Maersk, who will become the first Dane to conduct a band at the National Finals in October.

The band’s next concerts are at the Trinity Arts Centre, Gainsborough, on Saturday, April 16, and Town Hall, Hessle, on Saturday, May 7, both at 7.30pm.
