Is anyone going to the Butlins (former mineworkers) competition in November?

I'm just wondering how bands feel about having to pay £12 per player to get them in to the Butlins complex, as well as paying a competition entry fee? I appreciate that bands are welcome to stay on the complex over that weekend for quite a low charge, but this is simply not possible in some cases.

Our band has been quoted £600 for a bus for the day, and then we will be expected to pay over £300 in entry fees. If we were fortunate to win the prize money for our section comes to nowehere near that amount.

I think the organisers are due credit for attempting to keep the mineworkers competition alive, but at what cost?

    What does anyone else think?

does seem a bit steep especially for lower section bands that struggle to keep afloat.
