The Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival
    Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th July 2011
The Museum of Iron, Ironbridge, Shropshire

The 7th annual Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival takes place at The Museum or Iron in Ironbridge, Shropshire over the weekend of 16th & 17th July 2011.

The Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival's reputation is growing enormously year on year and 2011 is already promising to set new records. With the help, support, enthusiasm and goodwill shown to the festival, we are confident that 2011 will be far and away the best event yet.

The festival is set in one of the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust’s ten award-winning museums in the area and provides a fantastic venue combining plenty of room for the festival to grow but retaining the intimacy and atmosphere which has made the festival such a success in the past.

The bands participating in the festival this year include:

    Tongwynlais Temperance Band

    The Porthywaen Silver Band

    City of Wolverhampton Band

    Llangollen Silver Band

    The Jaguar Land Rover Band

    Bradwell Silver Band

    Stiperstones Brass

    The Abraham Darby Band

    The Newport Town Band

    The Wellington (Telford) Brass Band

    Sabrina Brass

    Salopian Brass

    Black Country Brass

    Muller Cleobury Mortimer Band

The Ironbridge Gorge Brass Band Festival is completely FREE for anyone to come and enjoy the bands performing in the daytime. The Last Night of The Proms Charity Concert on the Saturday night features the combined talents of Tongwynlais Temperance Band and Wellington Town Band alongside the fantastic Mezzo-Soprano Helen May, all hosted by BBC Radio Shropshire's Jim Hawkins.

2011 is the 25th anniversary of The Ironbridge Gorge being made a UNESCO World Heritage Site and to celebrate this the festival has commissioned the 2010 Brass in Concert winner of the Best New Composition or Arrangement, Matthew Hall, to compose a piece incorporating all of the elements that make up the heritage of the Ironbridge Gorge.

Tickets, priced at £10, can be obtained here with all proceeds going to the Severn Hospice.

Please come along to enjoy this fantastic festival, all in aid of Severn Hospice.
