    Hi all of you!

I'm a newbie, but this site really is great...

I play principal cornet at Trentham Brass and the City of Stoke - on - Trent youth brass band.

I'm 13 and I'm taking grade 8 this christmas (i got distinction on all the others apart from grade 2, but i was only 8)

I play the piano as well.

Any tips (posting, playing or banding) for me?
    Just wanted to say hi!

Tips on posting - it's sometimes worth doing a search for a subject before starting a new thread. If you're angry about a topic, type in anger then press save...don't be afriad to contribute, but don't be upset if people don't agree with you.

Tips on playing - seek out some of the earlier posts. Lots of good stuff.

Banding? Enjoy what you do, and don't get rattled if you don't win every contest you compete in.

There are loads of great and knowledgeable people on here - Messrs Sparke and Fernie are semi regulars, and there are some top players too.

Enjoy, take part, learn. tMP's a good thing to be part of.

Now for Di to do the welcome smiley, 'cos I ain't a clue how to do it!

    hey :)
with banding, go with what you enjoy :)
go with the instincts and play to your abilities i guess

and posting, ummm, i dont do much of that, so im no use there

  5. Just one small tip on posting, why not go for the record of most posts in a 24 hour period ;-) - I thought I'd double vision for a moment.

Keep this rate up and you could be a master friend by bonfire night!! :hi

Thanks - let me tell you why I've managed to do so many posts.

Apart from practicing, banding, eating and cricket, basically all that I do is go on forumns about TV, politics, news and all sorts, so when I found out that there was a brass band one :) :) :) then, well, you know the rest.

    I'm addicted!

    Please dont encourage him.

Going by the amount meaning-less posts he's done already, its abit like when Ian Perks was on a mission to post in every single thread, just for the hell of it......
  8. Yes it's getting rather tedious now.

Tips on posting; I woud suggest that you take the advice given to you from your piers. It is one of the best ways to learn.
The advice given to you from Will the Sec was excellent. I would suggest that you try and adhear to it, as everybody else does. As it makes for a happy and smooth running forum, that doesn't rub other members up the wrong way.

Being a member of tMP isn't all bout who has made the most posts. Don't try to catch Di up, I doubt anyone will!!

If you are going to make a contribution, make it a worthwile one. I think less is more.

We all became members to enjoy the site. Lets get on with it.
