‘HYMNS OF PRAISE’ With Hepworth and special guests Honley Male Voice Choir The newly opened Cathedral House on St Thomas Road at Folly Hall, Huddersfield will ring to the sounds of brass and voices on Sunday 10th May when the Hepworth band will be in concert with their very special guests Honley Male Voice Choir. The concert, ‘Hymns of Praise’ will feature a programme of sacred music, based on favourite hymns, psalms and works by Salvationist composers, providing an opportunity to hear the band in concert fresh from their recent success at the Yorkshire Regional Championships where they qualified to represent Yorkshire at the finals of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain at the Royal Albert Hall in October. It will also be an opportunity to hear the Honley men in concert under the direction of their new MD Keith Roberts and for the band and choir to join forces in performing a new arrangement by Alan Fernie of the hymn tune Blaenwern, commissioned by the family of Les Clegg in his memory. Les's son and daughter David and Linzi both played for the band and Les was a member on Honley MVC. The concert gets underway at 7pm and there’s plenty of parking available at the venue. Tickets cost £6 and are available from Wm Sykes & Sons Estate Agents, Holmfirth, Huddersfield Tourist Information Office and from the band (01484 667213).
