There appears to be an "insert HTML" facility, but I don't seem to be able to get it to work.

(I only wanted to use it for a 1-off (honestly!).

I wanted to insert the HTML:
<div align='center'><a href=''><img src=''alt='Paying too much for Broadband? - Move to PlusNet for FREE!' border='0'></a></div>

into a post, but it just shows up in a box labeled "HTML"!

Any ideas what I should be doing?

Most of the HTML has been disabled, as it can severly mess up the presentation on a page.
Just one Unclosed "<TEXTAREA>" for example, can cause mayhem.

Also, security considerations involving script piggybacking, force us to be safe, rather than sorry.

Plenty of formatting is available using bbcode - the presentation-safe markup of bulletin boards.

All HTML is disallowed in all posts Neil I' afraid due to malicious scripts taking advantage of this vulnerability. I don't know of any forums that allow this.

The HTML button is there to function as you have seen, i.e. to allow html code to be quoted, not executed.
