How many area contests do you go to on average each year?

I play in the north of England area, but I tend to go to the yorkshire area too.

Anyone else want to divulge their band following emigration habits?

    .....just a thought

I only manage the one, I'm afraid, and then only for one day. This year, as we've got Kettering Band on the Saturday night I'll be over at Stevenage on the Sunday but not the Saturday.

    *sighs*

I remember the days when I would play on the Saturday, stop over in Darlington (which is a pap night out really :-? ) then continue boozing on the Sunday.

....Of course then I joined a first section band (at the time)

and I got a job too. Now my beer affilliated frivalities have had to subside somewhat

I am playing in the NW but like to (if none-clashing) go along to the Midlands as that is my old area and I have family and friends who still play there. I wouldn't mind going to listen to some of the other areas but I tend to have rehearsals or other committments at those times :( also most of Flixton are not BOC-enough to go with me!!

In the past I have only ever been to the Southwest areas on the day that my band plays.
This year though - I still can't quite believe I'm doing it - I'm going all the way to the Yorkshire areas for the weekend!
    I hope it's worth the journey! :-?

This is the trouble with living so far away from anywhere! Have only ever been to the south west areas but i try and go both days, partly for the playing/listening, partly for the socialising!

Want to make it the the yorkshire areas one day! (but i have to work out how to actually get that far up the country 1st!)

I shall be competing in the Yorkshire Areas and the the following week going over to Blackpool for the North West Areas (have competed in this area many times) to support the 3 bands from the Isle Of Man in the 2nd, 3rd and 4the sections. And I'll be drinking. Lots.

Only ever been to Yorkshire area. Normally play on Saturday and stop over for the Sunday contest. Can't this year as we're playing on the Sunday. So will not get to any other sections playing this year.

Always go to the South-West Area, and have been to the Welsh areas many, many times. Don't like it when they clash like this year. (have been to Swansea on a Wales - England rugby day, England won he-he!) Went to London once, Blackpool once and Bradford twice. I have been to Dolphin Centre Darlington, but can't remember if it was for an area contest. Also went to the Midlands area when Desford were the big cheese, didn't it used to held in Leicester? So only Scotland to go to for my full set of badges, I will make it there one day, but it's a long way from here.

I will be playing in the Midlands, and then i will be going to the NW area's on the sunday as Keely will be playing there. I might go the the LSC's one day, but I don't feel inspired to do that one yet :)

Only doing Blackpool. Would love to go to others esp. Wales to hear Jessop-Smythe, but it's on the same weekend. Other areas tend to clash with rehearsals coming up to our areas as well...

I will wear a little badger lapel badge. You'll have to get quite close to me to be able to see it I'm afraid.
Or I could iron a badger logo into the back of my band shirt...

So far I've only been to one day of the Welsh areas every year, and that's the Sunday (4th/Champ) when I've been competing! I'd like to go on the Saturdays to keep up with the news and results but we usually seem to have a rehearsal!

One day I'd like to travel about to support friends in different areas but it would get mighty expensive at the moment seeing as I haven't got a car.
