For some time now we have been on the lookout for two tenor trombone players for the band. These are now the only seats to fill as we have a full band otherwise.
We have advertised on this website, our own, 4barsrest, the Bandsman, the local papers and the schools all to no avail. How is it done?

With the prospect of playing Tam O'Shanter next March, if we can't find them we won't be able to go.

So fellow posters - HOW IS IT DONE?

You need to find some poor eastern european trombonists and import them.

We have degrees up here too you know! Just get him to move course - easy (tell him beer is cheaper here or something... ;) )

The trouble with this is, you have to find trombonists who are not already playing for a band at the Scottish - which won't be easy! There is always contacts ("my brother's friend plays the trombone" etc) who can be invited along if poss. Other than that, all I can think of is to just keep persevering with the school etc.
