With Hove Contest just around the corner, who's going?
I'll be there with YWDB...
I'll be there with Becontree (as will Aardvark and loads of other tMP'ers connected with that wonderful band ).
I've had two rehearsals on the test piece ************************ - ssshhhh can't mention it - and I must say hasn't really made an impression on me but it's OK.
Good luck to everybody at Hove this weekend. It is just such a shame they don't get bigger entries - it is a fantastic contest.
I plan to go as a YWDB supporter
Anyboy have any ideas how many bands are entered?
I just saw in the British Bandsman it kicks off at 9:30 am...I think
3rd section, youth, 2nd and then 1st?
Yea - good luck to YWDB band. If I wasn't playing for Becontree I'd be playing for them.
As far as we were told yesterday there are 9 or 10 in the 1st Section.
Don't know about the others sorry Pat.
1st half Draw for 1st section (split draw) is at 3pm.
I know what you mean about the test piece, MRSH, could go either way! Still, if we can win at the ensembles comp with 'Kalinka' then anything can happen!
Beacontree will be there?!
Maybe I can finally meet the ever elusive Laserbeam Bass
No, but BECONTREE will be :tup
Trust me Pat - it's not worth the wait
Be sure to come and say hello - it'll be good to see you again (and Laserbeam Bass will be there and is actually a nice bloke)
See you there
You can't miss him. If you think you've spotted me, you haven't, and it'll be Tom. Mind though, where I'm teetotal, he'll drink you under the table...
Well I'll be there almost totally failing to spot anyone
1st Section - Split draw 9 bands ? why? :dunno
Nearly gave it away there MRSH !!! Best not tell anyone we're playing $$$$%%%**** in the March section !!
I'll be there - just look for Ned Flanders with Mid Sussex Brass.
Meerkat & Bladder (who doesn't seem to inhabit here much these days) will also be there.
With the aid of wireless networking, the results of the Hove contest that have so far been announced are now on http://www.scaba.co.uk
sent from the bar at Hove!
Been onto site and can't see any results. The link isn't working.
Hello! This is my first ever post to The Mouthpiece.
The address for the Hove results is...
The link didn't work from the website because it's looking for a file in the wrong location. But a little common sense helped me to work out what the address would be!
It was my first ever contest today so I'm desperate to find out how we did.
apologies all - the link wasn't quite correct - but it is now!
Andd having met him today, I can clearly see a family likeness!!
Congratulations to the winners at Hove!
In my own section, a special well done to all my good friends at LGB Brass - well done Ian!
Congrats Bunny Boy and the rest of the YWD Gang!!!
It was a fine performance and you should be proud!!
Thanks Pat, the band really needed a win to boost the morale, and thanks to Bruce Fraser for a fantastic piece (Verona Lights).
p.s. Who was whistling at the end of our performance?, I can honestly say I've never had a response like that at a contest! what a refreshing change!.
Wahey!! Great contest, even if we did have to stay til 9pm for the bleedin results!! (Any boy wasn't it worth it!)
