Ok... I have less than 24 hours til I move to Uni! I'm really excited and really really looking forward to all the nex experiences that Uni brings... BUT I'm reeeeeeeeally worried about what my housemates will be like and whether or not I'll get on with them!
Anybody got any nice stories to calm my nerves?

    Fi

    What ^ said!

I'm sure you'll have a great time - I was in a big hall of residence when I was at Uni and met some great people. I'm sure you will too! It's a great experience and you'll make friends for life. Keep us posted how you are getting on!

I have lots of nice stories!
When I first went to leeds I was in a flat of 8 girls and it was brilliant, I went on to live with 4 of them in my second year. I obviously got on with some more than others, but that's just normal!

The same happened when I moved to uni second time round :)rolleyes: !) that time I was living with post grads who had all moved in 2 weeks earlier! The potential for that to be tough was huge, but they were all lovely and welcoming and have now moved elsewhere.

Now I'm living with a mixture of people from my course and elsewhere and it's the best house i've ever lived in (albeit a scumhole!). Just remember that everybody is in the same boat and everyone is a bit nervous and wants to make new friends.

(I've also found that turning up with a bottle of wine and a box of chocolate is an excellent way to bribe people to be your new best friends!!)

    Best of luck x

    Good Luck,

Ooooh you've just reminded me to pack my BIG bottle of Malibu! I knew I'd forgotten something!

I think its just the not knowing that's making me nervous! This time tomorrow I will be in my new house... and it'll all be fine I'm sure! I hope!

Its tomorrow!! Yay!! Good luck fi :)

To be honest i kind of forgot to think about the fact that i would be living with strangers! I guess because liz was going too it didnt really bother me that much!

You will meet loads of people in the next two weeks- and the same quesitons will be asked-
    "whats your name?"
    "whats your specialism?"
    and "where are you living?!"

I think i probably remembered about 3 peoples information! You do tend to stick with your housemates a lot in the 1st few weeks tho. Take your time to get to know them all and you'll be fine! We have had some of our best nights as girlie nights in, thats when you get to know people best. You are encouraged to swap numbers straight away, and just generally look out for each other- make sure you all get home ok fromtown etc and call the ambulance when someone has passed out from alcohol- that only tends to happen in freshers week tho! :)

Make sure you and your housemates come up to the SU tomorrow night for the freshers BBQ, it'll be packed but a chance for you to meet people! and shout if you see me! :)

Oooooh I finally know something that is happening in freshers fortnight! Is it secret information or something? what else is happening?!

I don't think I'll be shouting though.... I am a bit poorly at the moment... full of cold and sore throat/cough.... lovely 5 year olds!!

Ooooh and at band last night I got a lecture off the 2nd Euph player because I said Freshers' wrong! He thought it was Threshers fortnight! Bless .... its not his fault he's old!

Well they both contain roughly the same amount of alcohol so he wasn't that far off!

just bring a bunch of fancy dress stuff, dressing up isnt just for freshers, we have a themed night at least once every week!

The pub crawl night is probably the best night out, don't miss that! .......kelly was a little bit bad last year during that night.........;) all good fun tho! Freshers ball is also good. well basically there is an event on every night for two weeks, so theres bound to be something that takes your fancy :)
Unfortunately im not going to be able to do too much drinking each night this week as i have to go do serious house buying stuff in smelly plymouth during the day.....obvioulsy i'd much rather be dying in bed like every other normal person during the days! Annoying!

I am really excited now! i wish it was tomorrow! I've inlisted the help of half the marine band to get my stuff into my house, so if you need any help give us a shout! Its not all going to fit tho!!

If recent TV coverage is anything to go by, you'll find there's a gay one, a transexual, a recovering anorexic and a couple with surgically enhanced figures

Seriously, though, remember that you're all in the same boat, and they're probably as apprehensive as you are. I'm sure if you just relax anhd be yourself then you'll soon make friends and settle in ;)

Yay!! It's tomorrow!!!

Don't be too scared, you'll love it! You'll meet loads of people on the first night - most of them will have nothing to do with the rest of your year, but you'll still be saying hi to them when you see them randomly around Exmouth this time next year! (well I do anyway!)

I'm so excited about going back! See you tomorrow night I expect!

I wish i was going back to uni! :(

Its by far and away the best 3 years of your life, just enjoy every minute of it because the time will fly by unfortunately.

When your in a hall of residence you meet loads of people and meet friends really easily. In our 3rd year there were 4 of us in a 5 person house and we had a German move in with us, like most Anglo German relations it all turned a bit sour but Britain prevailed! :p

    Have a fab time :p

    Helloooooooooooo! I'm here!!!

We don't have internet at the house yet..... but I've found the computer room already!

I'm having an absolutely amazing time... despite being poorly! My housemates are really lovely.... and Louise in the room next door to me is on exactly the same course and we get on really well.... we went to the SU for a bit and then went home and watched Cocktail and then Extra's :D with toast and choccies!

    I LOVE IT HERE!!!

Its a pirate themed night tonight, so we are off to town after the next lecture thing to find costumes and stuff!

I don't know why I was worrying.... everyone in my house is lovely... and I think I'm quite lucky because there are 2nd/3rd/4th years in the house aswell so they are very helpful :D and we have two fresher's angels aswell

Oooooh and I saw Kelly in the SU last night! (By the Bar  ) No sign of Liz yet though! Where are yooooou? We have to meet up one night and go out together!!!

    Byeeeeeeeeee

Grr I'm jealous I really want to be going back to uni!! The real world isn't all it's cracked up to be...:( My little sis has just gone up to Bristol this weekend too so it's very weird at home!

Sounds as if you're having a great time already with no housemate problems! Hope you're as lucky as I was, I had a great bunch in halls in my 1st year and we ended up living together for the whole three years!

Trust me make the most of the next few years, it'll definitely be the best time of your life :tup
