Horn Mouthpiece

    A DW2 is too deep whats the best horn mouthpiece that gives a nice sound but isnt too deep?

    have you tried the dw3 or 5.. although that changes the rim size more than anything... could try some bach or yamaha mouthpieces although iv had no experience with them.

    Bach/Yam mp's are too shallow, likewise the schilke ones! You may be able to get the notes with these, but you'll lose any nice warm sound that you may happen to make! The sound becomes a non-descript american type sound!
    You're best sticking with a DW, for sound quality alone. Number 5 is good for higher notes, but for allround playing you're best with preferably persevering with the 2, or using a 3!

    im on a 3 (i think) or a 5

    whichever it is, i want the other one, or was it a 2?

    there isnt a certain type/brand of mouthpiece that gives a good/not good sound on an instrument though.. every player is going to make a different noise on different instruments and mouthpieces.
