    Bidford on Avon
Myself and Bassboneshep have recently moved to Bidford-on-Avon in Warwickshire and are looking for a band, preferably contesting, to play with.

I play second horn (although I could just about manage 1st horn) and as his name suggests Bassboneshep plays Bass Tombone.

Are there any bands out there that want us?

These two wondeful people come highly recommended by myself and all their friends up here at Emley. Two more dedicated, committed and hard working bands people you will not find, and Bassboneshep bakes a mean loaf of bread too.

Best of luck finding a band you two, it's a lucky band that lands you both. :tup ;)

We miss you up here. :(

Welcome to the area. I hope the floods in Bidford last week haven’t put you off?

I play for Bretforton Silver Band, which as you may of guessed is based in the village of Bretforton, about 6 miles from Bidford.

We are a busy and popular band, performing a wide variety of concerts including a proms concert in the summer in which we have audiences of over 5000 people and that’s no exaggeration.

We are a friendly, social bunch. If you fancy coming to a rehearsal then you would be made most welcome. We rehearse on Thursday evenings 20:00 – 21:45 ish, our band room is in School Lane, Bretforton. (Next to the Church in the centre of the village). If you would like to give me a call on 01386 834326 and I’ll be happy to give you directions.

    Hope to meet you soon.

    Kind regards,

    Paul Wood

Why is it, when willing players are there for the taking, there's no spaces in the right gaps? I play in two Warks. bands (Dunchurch & Royal Spa Brass), and although both are always on the lookout for players, those seats are occupied in both, although others are less crowded if either or both of you fancy a shuffle onto other instruments!

I don't know how the other bands in the area are for vacancies -

Your nearest clump of Bands would be in Alcester:
    Alcester Victoria: http://members.lycos.co.uk/avsb/
    Arrow Valley Brass: http://www.arrowvalleybrass.co.uk/

    & Evesham: Avonbank: http://www.avonbankbrass.co.uk/

Then there is always Daventry, a bit further away:
    Daventry Brass: http://www.daventrybrass.co.uk/

    also Bretforton: http://www.bretfortonsilverband.co.uk
Oh, I forgot Shipston, that is pretty close to you: http://web.mac.com/gsharp2/iWeb/ShipstonTownBand/Welcome.html

& no doubt I am missing others!

Alcester Vic dont have any vacancies at present but players are always welcome. On my first night, there were 7 horns. That was cosy!

Rehersals are Monday night 8 - 10 pm for the main band normally followed by a drink or two at the Lord Nelson pub, directly oppersite the band room.

Give Sue Bates, band secretary/manager and font of all knowledge a call, contact details on the web site.

Just to back up the previous comment, Royal Spa Brass does indeed welcome all players and although those 2 seats do have people on them, you are always welcome to come down and have a blow with us. Unfortunately we do not contest but are a fun loving band with a busy schedule. We rehearse on Tuesday's during term time from 7pm - 9pm at 'The Band Factory', Leamington Spa.
If you'd like more details, just email me on nikki_hudson@uk.ibm.com and I'll be happy to give you directions etc.
