My wife works with special needs children and is currently doing a specialist nursery social studies course.

The regulatory powers that be, and the PC brigade (politically correct) have mandated that she has to have several of the announcements that are posted on the nursery/playgroup notice board also appear in another language - either Indian, Urrdu (have I spelt that correctly??) or Pakistani.

So, we recently had physicists and engineering scientists cleverly answering a thread posted by our very own supersop on mechanical hysteresis, and I am wondering if there are any linguists or language experts here on tMP who may be able to help her out and do a translation.

I hadn't even realised those were official languages of this country, so I never went about learning them... sorry John! Good Luck!

have you looked at online dictionaries? Some of them do translate grammar adn sytax in sentence form, not just word-by-word

of course, if you would want a Dutch translation, I could give it a try. French could maybe also be arranged (lots of French-speaking colleagues at work)...
