Hepworth 2010 Concert Series

    2010 promises to be a busy year on the concert stage for Hepworth as the band presents ‘Championship Brass from the Holme Valley’ - a series of four themed concerts, staged and promoted with support from the National Lottery ‘Awards for All’.

    ‘Championship Brass in the Holme Valley’, the opening concert takes place at Holmfirth Civic Hall on Saturday 17th April (7.30pm) when the band presents a gala concert, staged as part of the Holme Valley Brass Band Weekend, as a prelude to the 85th Holme Valley Contest.
    The concert also provides an opportunity to here the BBC2 Young Brass Soloist of the year, euphonium player Matthew White as guest soloist for the evening.

    ‘Landscapes in Brass’, the second concert of the series is to be staged at Holmfirth Picturedrome on Sunday 6th June (7pm), promoted as part of the Holmfirth Arts Festival. The concert will feature of programme of music to celebrate the English landscape with the band performing the world premiere of ‘Pennine Portraits’ – a new work by the renowned composer Ken Downie and Hepworth based photographer Andy Boag, that brings together music and image to capture and portray the areas distinctive landscape and cultural heritage.

    ‘A Night at the Classics’, Huddersfield Town Hall, Saturday 25th September will see the band join forces once again with very special guests the Huddersfield Choral Society for an evening of popular light classics. An opportunity to hear one of the country’s leading choral societies in concert with one of the areas top brass bands promises to be one that is not to be missed!

    ‘Hymns of Praise’, the final concert in the series, takes place at St Paul’s Hall, Huddersfield on Sunday 31st October when the band will be joined by Colne Valley Male Voice Choir for a programme of sacred music, favourite hymns and music from the world of the Salvation Army.
