Any suggestions for a sop solo for a soloist comp

I havnt got a clue as the piece i wanted to play........................................... well was a little too hard :)

I want something pretty dainty, something that reflects me really :tup ;)

As an idea for degree of difficulty, can you let us know what you were trying which was too hard?

TMpers might be able to suggest things better if you could say "Something easier than.... but harder than...." or similar :)

    Silver Threads Amoungst The Gold?

What are you looking for - slow melody, or variations?

I agree with this, Ipswich Co-op played this last year for the East Anglian Contest and worked well with the other pieces, sadly the solo prize evaded us that year!

Others could include Live and Let Die (the Ray Farr arr.), Queen of the Nights Aria (Still works well) or Only for You works well as jazz (PLC, but i'm not sure whether it's published yet).
After having a look through my iTunes library i've realised theres a shocking lack of decent Sop solo's so finding the good'uns could be a little taxing!

Why not try Herbert Clarke's "The Debutante", which was successful for Peter Roberts for many years?

Queen of the Night's Aria by Mozart and arranged by John Golland is cracking on Sop. :D

Isn't there an arrangement of the lark in the clear air for sop?

Bit of a chestnut I know, but It's lovely if I remember it correctly.

Our sop (Kay MacKenzie) is playing Meditation from Thais (or however it's spelt!) and that sounds pretty awesome.

Two of may favourites are Philip's sparkes Capriccio (but i think that's out of print), and his Flowerdale. Capriccio certainly requires some dainty playing.
